The year 2020 marks a milestone for the management of Protected Areas (PAs) in Greece with the publication of Law 4685/2020 (Government Gazette A92/7.5.2020), whereby the National System of Governance of Protected Areas is defined and the Natural Environment and Climate Change Agency (N.E.C.C.A.) is established.

The management system reflected in the new law essentially reinforces the cooperation of all competent authorities and organizations, as well as the coordination of all Management Bodies under the umbrella of N.E.C.C.A.

With the aim of implementing a modernized and contemporary system of governance for Protected Areas (PAs), the Ministry of Environment and Energy deemed it necessary to unify planning under one combined scientific, consulting and coordinating body for the effective organization of governance and management of these areas.

Until recently, the management of PAs in Greece was carried out by the competent Department of Natural Environment and Biodiversity Management of the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MEEN) and by the Management Bodies of Protected Areas (MBPA), which are private law legal entities supervised by the MEEN. Throughout its 20 years of operation, this governance system encountered various difficulties, (involving coordination, absorption of EU funds, production of scientific information), and ultimately suffered from a lack of uniformity and absence of a common approach towards PA and species management.

N.E.C.C.A aims to implement the policy formulated by the MEEN for the management of protected areas.

The Ephorate of Antiquities of Florina is a regional Service of the Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports. The Ephorate is authorized to collaborate with the Central Directorates of the Ministry and implements works included in the annual Action Plans.

The Ephorate’s personnel is authorized to conduct systematic and rescue excavations, to implement studies and other archaeological works, to organize permanent and periodic exhibitions, to supervise the operation of archaeological sitesand museums according to the local needs.

The Ephorate of Antiquities of Florina is responsible for the preservation and protection of the prehistoric, classical, byzantine and post-byzantine antiquities of Florina Regional Unit, their documentation, conservation and presentation, the exhibition of the finds in Museums, the implementation of archaeological studies and works, the restoration, rehabilitation, reconstruction and promotion of monuments and archaeological sites, the scientific study and publication of archaeological data and the management of monuments, archaeological sites, Museums and Collections.

The project aims at the experimental development and implementation of an innovative system in real-time conditions, which will allow the enhanced presentation - visualization of invisible monuments and finds unearthed during archaeological excavations and subsequently covered. The antiquities may rest in backfilled trenches at an open archaeological site or covered by standing structures such as metro stations. Through the use of modern technology and tools, it will be possible for visitors of these sites to see the invisible antiquities on the screen of a portable device as they move and to sense the ``cultural experience``.
The combination of positioning technologies (GPS), augmented and virtual reality (AR / VR) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) will allow the visitor to observe and navigate archaeological structures, which are not visible today.

DIGI – ORCH is an innovative system that allows the digital visualization of the information of the printed advertising material for the concerts and educational programs of the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki.
An ideal cultural experience for the classical music audience with innovative information visualization technology.

Through smartphones and tablets, the user can visualize with the help of augmented reality, additional information compared to that included in the posters and promotional forms, ``surpassing`` text, images, video and sound!

The developed application contributes in a very positive way to the multifaceted information of the public visiting each concert, as it visualizes with a variety of multimedia material intended information, such as interviews of musicians, rehearsals, detailed texts of composers and musicians, rich photographic material, 3D models of musical instruments 360° and other information of the event space.

The object of the DISHEAT project was the use and organization of the use of biomass, on the one hand, in large district heating systems such as that of DETEPA, and, on the other hand, in uses outside of heating networks, as DETHIP and DETEPA are planning to implement.

One of the objectives of the project was to document the crops of the study area using satellite imagery in geographic information systems and to accurately calculate the available biomass in order to achieve an optimal supply chain organization and cost reduction (representing more than 70% of operating costs), both for large applications and for decentralized small applications.

The project ``Development of procedures and technology validation for the creation of locally available biomass value chains in W. Macedonia in order cover the fuel needs of the local district heating systems in order to replace the use of heat from lignite power plants that their shutting down in eminent.
